Sea of Cortez Yacht Charter . . . A Relaxing Adventure

A Sea of Cortez yacht charter is indeed a luxurious, relaxing adventure. The gin clear waters bordered by the 806-mile Baja Peninsula to the west and Mexico’s mainland to the east, offer visitors a peek through an exclusive window to a very special and little known corner of the world.

A luxury Sea of Cortez yacht charter provides opportunities to pet and even kiss giant gray whales, frolic with dolphins in their natural habitat, and snorkel with dancing Manta Rays—all in the same day. Yacht charters to the Sea of Cortez, also known as the Gulf of California, usually begin at lands end, the southernmost tip of the Baja Peninsula. There, the sophisticated resort town of Cabo San Lucas welcomes visiting yachts to chic beachfront resorts and marinas, offering exceptional cuisine, and all the trappings of a high-end tropical destination.

Upon entering the crystalline blue waters, you’ll experience the first of many magical moments encountered on a Sea of Cortez yacht charter—time appears to slow down. Life is relaxed here. The Mañana attitude throughout the Baja Peninsula is a way of life. Visitors quickly adapt to Mañana, a wonderful custom that is easily learned, when they have their first encounter with the area’s most valuable treasure, the friendly, courteous people whose roots are deeply embedded in the Baja. Mañana does not necessarily mean tomorrow. It means that whatever is being discussed may not happen today.

Even the abundant local wildlife understands the Mañana way of life. Visitors are delighted to find that the wildlife is not so wild, as the abundance of sea and land creatures live in relaxed harmony as if they have not a care or fear in the world. Many, love interactions with humans. They lead a stress-free existence because they embrace Mañana.

About the Sea of Cortez

In biological terms, the Sea of Cortez is the richest body of water on the entire planet. Home to more than 900 varieties of fish and over 5,000 species of micro- invertebrates as well as a variety of sea birds; the Sea of Cortez is the habitat of many species that exist only in these waters.

One example is the vaquita porpoise, one of the rarest marine mammals is found only in the northern reaches of the Sea of Cortez. These small porpoise are also one of the most endangered sea mammals in the entire world. The current population of the vaquita porpoise is thought to be 200 or less—a number that is barely sustainable.

The 806-mile Baja Peninsula protecting the Sea of Cortez from the Pacific Ocean is the second longest peninsula in the world, surpassed only by the Malay Peninsula in Southeast Asia. The Baja supports a population of over a million people. More than 2.5M people live on the shores of the Sea of Cortez. The entire coastline is approximately 2,500 miles long, not counting the perimeters of hundreds of islets and 37 main islands, few of which are inhabited due to lack of water. The Sea of Cortez is bordered by the Mexican States of Baja California and Baja California Sur on the west side, and the states of Sonora and Sinaloa on the east side. The marine rich sea is fed by six rivers; the Colorado, Fuerte, Mayo, Sinaloa, Sonora, and the Yaqui. The Sea of Cortez has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
